Aiken's Southern Charm

Aiken is a unique place. From its beautiful, broad, landscaped parkways to its rambling "cottages" of its famed winter colony residents, Aiken has become one of the most desirable and picturesque communities in the Southeast. By preserving Aiken's historic charm and encompassing modern amenities it is a delightful place to live today. One of a kind stores, art galleries, restaurants and businesses abound in the delightful downtown.

It is a university town with all the culture that brings, an active live theater group, excellent medical facilities, superb city owned recreational facilities, 2000 acre Hitchcock Woods nestled in the heart of Aiken and so much more. Aiken welcomes the growing equestrian community which dates to the 1800's. Polo is played every Sunday afternoon in the Spring and Fall season. Driving the unpaved roads in the horse district, you may come upon horse drawn carriages, exercise riders on race horses, or those riding for pleasure. Northerners have found a warm welcome in Aiken to enjoy the mild four season climate. For golfers, year around play is a definite attraction. It truly is a special place and a delight to call home.
